Swimming with the dolphins in Nuevo Vallarta (just north of Puerto Vallarta's airport, in the neighboring state of Nayarit) is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It is not inexpensive, by any means, but there is good reason for that. Providing proper care for these amazing gentle creatures of the sea is not inexpensive, either, and most of the places where visitors are allowed to interact with the dolphins also serve as research facilities. Only limited numbers of guests can interact with the animals on any given day, to protect the dolphins from injury or illness. Strict guidelines apply to the dolphin tours, to allow for the safety and protection of the animals, as well as the guests. Please honor each and every regulation, as a responsible citizen of the universe shared by so many beautiful forms of life.
At the marina, as you wait for your boat to take you to where you will meet with the dolphins, you will be entertained by this amazing sealion and his trainer. The show is hilarious!

Professional photographers record your visit, and while the photos are fairly price-y, they are another source of revenue to help contribute to the maintenance of the animals and facilities, as well as the trained professional staff. Given that most people will not enjoy this experience more than once or twice, the photos are a valuable souvenir of a truly memorable day. You may get lucky and catch a few good shots of your own, also!
